We are always looking for the following...
Minibus drivers
- We provide volunteer
drivers for any of the local groups hiring our
buses that don't have a driver of their own
- We provide full
MiDAS driver training locally
- Drives can be from
as little as an hour to a full day trip - you choose
- It could be to collect
members from a local luncheon club, a trip out to the theatre,
a museum or historic building, or a run into the Dales - you
choose
- The passengers vary
as widely as the destinations but, whoever you drive for, you
will always be appreciated
Minibus escorts
- As well as drivers
we provide passenger escorts for some of our journeys
- This involves seeing
passengers safely on and off the bus, helping with seatbelts
and on certain trips, helping carry shopping
- These trips take
place between 9:00am and 5:00pm and range from 1 hour to 3 or
4 hours
- Y ou choose which
trips suit you and how often you would like to help
- Appropriate training
will be given locally
Car Drivers
- We provide lifts
for residents in the Ilkley and Addingham area, primarily for
medical appointments
- Volunteers use their
own cars and can claim expenses for mileage at a pre-agreed
rate
- When we receive
a request for a lift we will ring round our pool of volunteers
to see who is available -you choose if it is convenient for
you
- Drivers will usually
be asked to wait or return to take the passenger home again
after the appointment, round trips can take as little as 10-15
minutes through to an hour or so
Office Administration
We share an office
with the local Council for Voluntary Service (ICVS). We have a
transport co-ordinator to oversee the group’s activities
but help is always needed with the everyday office tasks. These
include:
- Taking bookings
and lift requests
- Ringing round for
drivers/escorts
- Helping with accounts
- Handling correspondence
- Handling general
telephone enquiries
The ICVS office is
open to the public Monday - Friday 10-12 and 2-4 but the office
volunteer time is flexible - tell us when you can be available
and we will see what we can do.
